The Military Legacy
I was born into a family where service wasn’t just a profession – it was a calling. My father, a Major General in the Indian Army, instilled in me a sense of adventure and purpose that would later define my technological journey. While he served on battlefield frontiers, I chose to serve through innovation.
The Himalayan Transformation
When I embarked on a 3,400 km motorcycle expedition across the Himalayas, I wasn’t just traveling – I was discovering myself. Riding my Royal Enfield Bullet with three friends, living in alpine-style camps, traversing the world’s highest motor-able roads through Kashmir, I learned life’s most profound lessons. The mountains taught me resilience, diversity, and the interconnectedness of human experience.
Mastering the Underwater World
For years, the ocean was my classroom and office. As a Scuba Instructor, I didn’t just teach – I immersed myself in a world of wonder and precision. Attaining the Platinum Instructor rating wasn’t just a professional achievement; it was a testament to my less traversed choices. The focus in my 20s was freedom, adventure and lifestyle.
The underwater realm shaped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined:
- Deep Focus: Hovering weightlessly amidst vibrant coral reefs, I learned the art of intense concentration. When you’re responsible for students’ safety 30 meters below the surface, distraction isn’t an option.
- Alertness: Every dive was a lesson in heightened awareness. Whether it was spotting the tiniest nudibranch or keeping an eye on a passing shark, my senses were always on high alert.
- Adaptability: The ocean is unpredictable. Dealing with changing currents, visibility, and marine life encounters honed my ability to adapt quickly and calmly to new situations.
- Patience and Precision: Teaching students to master buoyancy control or navigate through delicate coral formations required infinite patience and meticulous attention to detail.
- Awe and Respect: Swimming alongside massive manta rays, observing the coordinated dance of barracuda schools, or marvelling at the complexity of macro life – these experiences instilled in me a deep respect for nature’s intricacy and balance.
This underwater journey wasn’t just about diving; it was about developing a mindset of curiosity, respect, and precision that would later fuel my technological pursuits.
Entrepreneurship
My journey took an unexpected turn when I co-founded Outback Resorts., a boutique luxury stay in the Andaman Islands. This venture was born out of my love for the ocean and the unique experiences I had as a scuba instructor. Located 2,400 kilometres from mainland India, the Andaman Islands presented a set of challenges that tested my adaptability and resilience.
In the early years, we faced numerous obstacles:
- Limited internet connectivity
- Sporadic electricity supply
- Encounters with sharks in the sea and snakes on land
Despite these challenges, the experience was incredibly rewarding. The culture of experienced divers, the world stories shared by travellers, and the friendships forged during starlit nights became the best part of my life. This period was a testament to the power of human connection and the beauty of living in harmony with nature.
Expanding Horizons: GoAndamans.in
Building on the success of Outbackresorts.in, I launched GoAndamans, a travel portal for the Andaman Islands. This venture quickly positioned itself as a leading Destination Management Company, offering travellers unique experiences and insider knowledge of the islands. The success of GoAndamans.in demonstrated my ability to identify market needs and create solutions that benefit both travellers and the local community.
A New Kind of Deep Dive
Transitioning from the ocean’s depths to the depths of code was a natural progression for me. The self-taught path I chose mirrored my experiences as a diver – it required discipline, curiosity, and a willingness to explore uncharted territories.
My coding journey became a new kind of deep dive:
- Vertical Depth: Just as I’d descend to explore a deep reef, I dove into the intricacies of Python and JavaScript. Each language was a new underwater cave system to explore, with its own unique features and challenges.
- Horizontal Breadth: My exploration wasn’t limited to a single reef. I expanded my skills across various frameworks, cloud services, and AI technologies. This horizontal growth allowed me to see the bigger picture of the tech ecosystem.
- Agile Learning: The ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions underwater translated perfectly to the fast-paced world of technology. I learned to pivot swiftly between different technologies and frameworks.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Just as I’d troubleshoot equipment issues underwater, I approached coding challenges with a calm, methodical mindset.
- Continuous Exploration: The thrill of discovering a new species underwater became the excitement of exploring cutting-edge frameworks and agentic builds in the tech world.
This self-directed learning approach allowed me to build a unique skill set, blending deep technical knowledge with a broad understanding of diverse technologies.
Astra Techz: Tech Empowering Small Businesses
Armed with my newly acquired coding skills, I founded Astra Techz. This venture aimed to build high-standard technology solutions for micro and small enterprises. My goal was to lift these businesses with technology, contributing to their future and progress while also sustaining myself. This endeavour reflected my commitment to using technology as a tool for empowerment and growth.
Co-Founding M37Labs: Enterprise AI Tech
The culmination of my diverse experiences led to the creation of M37Labs. This venture, which successfully raised pre-seed funding in October 2024, became more than a company – it became my platform to drive technological solutions that could protect nations, automate complex systems, and push humanity’s boundaries. Every line of code, every AI model represents my commitment to innovation.
