For navigational ease on Koh Tao, Chalok bay is right from the Pier and Sairee is left, yes while your back faces the pier. These are the two dense areas wherein lie the resorts, restaurants and dive shops.
Food and Hangout / Wi-Fi 🙂
- Fishy’s Burgers 24 hours, Chalok bay. Sasha makes the best Pizzas. Don’t listen to anyone else.
Panang curry, masaman curry, lamb burger, chicken fried rice and the pizzas. - Yang restaurant 5 minutes from the Pier. Wow food.
Anything Thai, go for it - Sandwich Lady near 7/11 Chalok bay.
Budget sandwiches: ham, bacon and cheese with the pineapple lassi. - Nana’s Thai food, on the pier road, food is good.
The panang and masaman are to die for. - Tuktak Thai food, Chalok bay.
Good food, small portions. Good for a change. - Munchie stalls at the pier around evenings.
The sausages are the best. - Buddha View Restaurant and evening barbecues. The barbecue master is “Tho Chai”.
Crispy chicken and burgers at the restaurant & satay, duck and beef at the barbecue.
Pure Chilling
- Bar Next Door: the place in Chalok.
- Why not Bar: perfect for the end, Chalok.
- Rock Bar: cool place, Sairee.
- Bar Nex2: fun chilling with some great bartenders and pyro performers, Sairee side.
- Choppers Club: Monday, Wednesday & Friday the pub crawl. Do not attend before departure.
Diving Options
- La Bombona, near the pier. Great team, mostly Spanish shared boat.
- Rocktopus, in Sairee. Good dive crew, keeps getting a good footfall.
- Mojo Divers, Sairee again. Fastest growing small shop. Actually now a midsized shop.
Accommodation
- Ban Tao Bungalows: behind Fishy’s burgers, meet Ning. Located on the Chalok side.
- P&M mansion is another really favored place.
- Most places offer cleanliness a good crew. But as personal note, I must say that staying in the Sairee side must be the agenda if you there for chilling. If diving and chilling both are on your mind, try Chalok side.
Two Wheeler Rental and Miscellaneous
- Buddha View Travel 2: for two wheeler hire.
- Juuno 4 for getting printouts and stuff
- Banana rock cafe via kayak from sunset resort, for green needs, Chalok bay.
